ONAREP,
the national oil company of Morocco, have awarded a major transcription
contract to DPTS.
The
contract involves the recovery, reformatting and transcription of seismic, well
log, navigation, gravity and magnetic data from 1974 to the present day. Over 46,000 tapes, cartridges and optical
disks will be transcribed to 3590 cartridges or CD-R, in industry-standard
formats, during a 12 month period at the ONAREP offices in Rabat.
DPTS
will use its renowned Diplomat™ software for the project. All tapes transcribed will be indexed in the
Diplomat MultiStore database, a copy of which will be delivered to ONAREP at
the end of the project. ONAREP will
also take delivery of complete transcription systems, including the Diplomat
transcription software, thus enabling them to provide ongoing management
services for their data.
ONAREP
commented that the contract was awarded to DPTS, after going through an
international tendering process, because of the technical competence and
expertise that DPTS had demonstrated by executing other similar projects.
Alan
Jepson, Managing Director of DPTS, said “we are very pleased that ONAREP have
chosen DPTS for this project and we are confident that we can enhance the value
of their data archive”.
