The problems with archiving and preserving data are:
- All media and recording devices have their strengths and weaknesses,
- all media and recording devices will fail someday, but nobody knows when,
- technology changes rapidly and media and recording devices soon become obsolete.
The DPTS Digital Data Stewardship Program preserves two copies of the client's digital data on two distinct
current and proven media and recording technologies.
The media and recording devices chosen will be those most beneficial to the customer -
they will be in common use in his industry.
After creating the two media sets they will be stored at different locations and monitored regularly
to ensure their integrity.

DPTS will monitor technology trends and be alert to potential problems related to each media.
If it is determined that a media is deteriorating or becoming obsolete,
DPTS will proactively migrate the client's data to a better media, without any additional costs to the customer.
